Rather than waste the paint I used on yesterday’s flower painting, I used an old credit card to smear the leftover paint from my palette onto the adjacent journal page. Looking at it, I thought I could see a boat - I glued the postage stamp from the envelope onto what seemed like a mast to me; outlined the boat and painted "The Love Boat" this afternoon.

Trickle down...
A friend of mine, Marianne, celebrated a birthday recently. Her friend, Claudia, sent Marianne a birthday card enclosed in a hand painted envelope. Marianne thought I would like the envelope - and of course, I snapped it up immediately! I created a journal page centered around the flower which I tore off the envelope. A no-brainer figuring out which flower Claudia painted!

Happy Birthday - To Me!!
I celebrated my birthday yesterday. Richard and I had lunch at Deep Lagoon Seafood Restaurant - fabulous fish tacos for me!
While he was watching the Super Bowl last night, I painted a spread in my art journal. My friend Kelley sent me a beautiful birthday card with a lovely sentiment. I loved it so much, I added the verse to my journal page.

Nothing is precious...
Art journal on easel; stand at arm's length; sketch with charcoal holding it loosely at its end. No brainer sketches - smudge, erase, it's all fair game. I decided to seal it with matte medium applied using an old credit card. It smeared the sketches, but that's okay. Nothing is so precious that it cannot be altered. I like the mystery it created.

Drama Queen
Waste not want not - used left over paints on my palette to create this portrait. No drawing - just brushstrokes - liberating!

Tea and Biscuits
We invited some friends over for dinner on Saturday. They always bring something yummy to share with us. The cheese biscuits (baked by the husband) were delicious. I set up a little still life because they looked good enough to paint!
