Countdown Mode...

I know I'm not the only one trying to get an appointment for the COVID vaccination.  There are millions taking the same journey of frustration and disappointment.  Get on-line and wait!!  So frustrating.  I was able to get myself appointments for the 1st and 2nd vaccination.  I've been trying for weeks now (in vain) to get appointments for my husband - geesh!!

art journal process - acrylic over gesso

splash of rubbing alcohol over wet acrylic paint

layer of watered down acrylic

Watching the countdown online was mind numbing.  I kept track as the numbers went down, down, down...

I hope to have better luck next time!!

Repetition...

The principle of repetition can be a profound statement in creating art.  In daily conversation with a loved one with short term memory issues, it can drive you to distraction!

Assorted craft papers collaged in art journal

adding a bit more dimension

sketch, paint, add text

It's Been a Rough Week...

I'm so glad this week is over.  It's been a rough one.  I know we all have "those" kind of days/weeks.  When someone asks me how I'm doing, I either want to cry or laugh out loud!

How I did what I did...

Vintage...

Playing around with some vintage images as well ephemera I have in my stash.  It was fun to be intuitive and create a spread in my 2021 art journal.

gesso and acrylic paint

used teabags glued to center of spread - appropriate for a vintage theme

Extended the vintage image with paint

Extended the image with vintage papers.  Added text printed on deli paper.

Banff, Canada

Several years ago, my husband and I visited Banff and Lake Louise in Canada. It was late October. The weather was chilly and sunny.  It was between seasons there so we had the place mostly to ourselves.  It was one of our first vacations that I used my iPhone to take photos of our trip.

Calm in the Meadow...

With all the craziness happening in DC lately, I need a place to sit and be calm.  If I could, I would sit under this tree and dream...

Hallelujah!

Glory Hallelujah 2020 is history!!  First spread in my 2021 art journal.

I wasn't sure where this was going, it just took off on its own

Torn pages from a hymnal, scrapbook papers, and Aurhaus catalog

add acrylic paint

the tabletop look like a bench seat to me - so I drew a little figure sitting atop it

addition of more paper scraps - painted figure
