Lives Gone By...

I love poking around old cemeteries.  I know the new modern headstones are easier to maintain - but so flat and blah...

Original photo taken in Beaufort, SC.

I completely agree about the new ones. I love the wear and nooks and crannies and detail on the old ones. So much better to photograph.

Old headstones do have character, the color and textures make for great photographs. And the old fences are good too.

very nice image and editing. I live in New England and we have plenty of old graveyards here. The one in Concord MA is wonderful. Thoreau, Emerson, Hawthorne, and the Alcotts are buried there to name a few.

Now this is a cemetery I would love to get my teeth into. Such texture and beauty in the stones -- made all the lovelier by your work.

I have to agree with you, the old cemeteries have beautiful headstones! And this is an awesome image!

Old cemeteries have so much atmosphere and each headstone is individual, lovely capture.

I love old cemeteries, old house (falling down), old barns. The stories they tell. Beautiful shot.

That cemetery would be one I think many of us would love to walk around in... read the stories on the headstone, discover the art. Simply lovely (if cemeteries can be that).
