I turned around and espied a laundromat. It has been years since I have set foot in such a place. It was an eye opener. It cost 3 quarters for one pouch of laundry detergent! Lesson here - bring your own detergent.
The ladies on the right were showing the young girls on the left how to sort laundry. There was a lot of laughing going on. As you can see from the sign, it costs many more quarters than I had to wash and dry one load!
They made sure to pack in as many articles of clothing into the washer as possible. (I wonder if any of it really gets clean jammed in this way.)
I decided not to do laundry, make a phone call or fill the tires with air. I still have my 4 quarters. Since I cannot do much with them anyway, I'm going to put them in the bank and save them for a rainy day.

hey those prices are not too bad. my dryer died, so i either need to wash and hang up the clothes or go to the laudromat. i'm thinking the latter, but when?
Love your bank! I detest the laundromat. I'd rather buy more underwear than go to the laundromat. Which is why I have so much underwear. (Even though I have my own laundry facilities here at the crap shack.)

Fun photo story! Due to a recent washer outage, I had to use a laudromat. I was pretty outraged at the prices, it had been a while since I'd had to use a pay washer.

My wife won't let me do laundry anymore. Not since that nasty incident involving red panties mixed in with the whites. Brilliant strategy on my part.
Very clever photo story! I haven't braved a laundrymat in a long time - don't think I could handle tossing in all of those quarters.

As much as I lust for your bank, I love your shot of the older women teaching the younger ones how to do their laundry. Also? That photo is a story in itself. (My understanding is you can cram a ton of stuff into frontloaders and they'll get clean. Toploaders, not so much.)

This is a clear violation of the unspoken, unwritten "one photo" rule. But it's also pretty damn clever, including the frames you put around the photo. Also, bonus points for photographing real people.
