I took a break from surface design techniques to play with Photoshop Elements. I have a large collection of photos I've taken of different textures. The one I chose for this project is a street surface in Freiburg, Germany. I found the dish towels hanging in a little shop in Zurich. I also used one of Kim Klassen's textures "Granny's Cupboard."
I experimented with making a displacement map. This is the result.
Another version sans the displacement map.
The theme this week for Texture Tuesday is "pink".

Hi Pat!
I love this!! I am so bad at PSE. I've tried, but no way.
BUT, I do LOVE your blog, and I'd like to add it to my sidebar, if you don't mind!! I don't want to miss what you make next!

Beautiful blog. Love your blog list of artists. Will be coming back to check out the artists.
You do come up with the most extraordinary designs....I love this one. I have PhotoShop, but don't really know how to use much of it! I think I need to take the time to learn!
HPS!

Oh boy oh boy...my hubby bought us Photo shop elements and I have not learned how to use it yet. Shame on me! I even signed up for Kim's online class and still have avoided it! Yours however, looks great.
I wish I could do that. Thx for sharing. You inspire me to keep learning.

I don't have photoshop, but it's on my someday wish list. I have no idea how to do what you do - I can see how it could open up lots of artistic elements. Thank you for visiting me!
Lovely photos!
I love the different color dish towels all hanging in a row and your edits are fabulous. My favorite is the second one.
Laundry Day!! LOVE it! My washer has stopped spinning and I have been "hanging on the line..." rolling "old school" and this was PERFECT! what a great image and what a great blog!
Love your Laundry Day Pat - looks like you really enjoyed it!
What a creative take on pink! Very lovely!
Congratulations on your quilt! Very exciting!
Looks like fun. The pink text is great.
wow I love the second photograph particularly, but it is great what the street texture does to it too. By the way what is a displacement map?
Love it! You need to come over to artseebloggers.com and sign up so your blog can be found in the directory!
i love them both! great idea! great textures!
(thanks for your comment on my ballet slippers...i also just watched the black swan...what an intense movie!)
What an interesting and appealing technique. I do not have a clue as to what a “displacement Map” is, so now I have even more to learn. You certainly inspire me. I like both images...cannot pick of favorite. I plan to visit often so can see what you are doing and hope to try some of it myself. Genie
Great technique... I love both textures...
Lou
