Celebrate! - Blog Giveaway

I'm celebrating two things today.  First it's been a year since I started blogging and second Pink Saturday is celebrating its 2 year birthday.

In honor of the occasion, I made this little quilt (9.5 wide x 11 long) entitled "Celebrate!" and I'm giving it away.
All you have to do to enter the drawing is leave a comment about a celebration in your life.  Only one entry per person, please.  (If you don't have a blog with an email address available, please add your email address with your comment.)

On Monday, May 31, 2010,  5PM (EST) I will add up all the comments, put the total into a random number generator and announce the winner.

GOOD LUCK!

You are gifted with the needle, to be able to create with fabric is a gift. I pop in often to see what you have created. I see your work comes from your heart and love for the fabric.

I am going to celebrate my latest report today from the x-ray. Bone has filled in on one side completely. Its been 2 years I have had a broken leg and 5 surgeries. This was the best report today to have one side filled in. I have been trying to grow 1/2 space of bone. Slow process for me so if I could do a happy dance I would but for now I will settle with a one legged shimmy...

Blessings to you and Happy Pink Saturday. I am 2 post new with Beverly. What an awesome bunch of ladies.

What a beautiful little quilt. I think it expresses my favorite celebration - the birth of my daughter. Like any Mother, could anything be a bigger celebration? Happy Pink Saturday to you.

Absolutely love this, it really made me smile! She looks so carefree and happy!
I'm trying to think of a suitable quilt winning celebration but I really can't think of an event. So instead I think the thing I most value is my creativity and ability to create what I see in my head and having the time to do this. Especially as I had so many years where I wasn't able to sit long enough to do much. That's got to be worth celebrating! http://eiloren.blogspot.com/

I am celebrating this weekend also. I'm from the Vietnam era and have just about run out of tears for those boys I sent overseas. I curated a show yesterday (of others' art) and it was mentioned by the best art critic in Central Florida...oh, wait, he's the only one left standing so let's celebrate Terry Hummel too! AND I'm planning a county wide fiber show next year and my old gallery asked to be in the show with 6 other galleries!

Pat,
I am celebrating having met you and the other Divas. Your view of the world which you express through your art has affected my painting. I am way too serious so I think of your playful, whimsical and lyrical creations when I begin a painting. It does make a difference; I especially think of whistles and tootsie roll wrappers(?) made into a bustier, hankies as pinafores and the quilt made with ladies gloves. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hello Pat and thanks for the visit to my blog Retired in Alaska. I quilt too but not on the same level with you. I'd say you are a real artist with a quilt.
A celebration in my life, hum let me see I have had a few by my age but I'd say the very biggest change was when we moved from CA. to Alaska. It's been a dream come true living here and not having to struggle to work as my husband is retired. Take Care. Nan

Hi!
I am so glad you stopped to visit me! You asked where we were in France. We spent a week in Paris, then we took a river cruise to Normandy, Arle, Leon Avignon and all over Provence. It was wonderful I did several posts on it in April, if you want to see some pretty pictures!

I see you live in Naples. I lived there for 20 years. I have 3 sisters still there. Now I live in Asheville, NC. I am also an artist. I do mosiacs. My art blog is www.lavenderhillstudio.blogspot.com

Your quilt is beautiful! Thank you so much for the opportunity to win it. I celebrate every single day. I celebrate all of the small things in life, like fresh grown herbs, flowers that bloom, the rain for the garden, my wonderful husband of 31 years.
Hugs,

Funny you should be asking about peoples' celebrations. Just last night, Friday, 5/28, I graduated from college with a degree in Theatre Arts! I've always wanted to get an education and pursue a love of the stage. I've done both now and sister, am I celebrating. It was a long time coming.
Thank you for asking about this topic, I'm glad I could share this momentous time with someone.

Hi Pat, I have a very special celebration to tell you about today. My grandson is graduating from High School On Tuesday. He is a very special boy and has had a hard year. His mother died at the end of his junior year and she and his dad were divorced, so without his mom, it has been tough. His dad lives far away and wanted him to move there but he didn't want to leave his friends. He stuck it out alone and made it through. It was very lonely for him and now he will move with his dad for the summer and start college in the fall. We are very proud of him.

Your quilt is beautiful. Please enter me in the drawing. Maybe I will be lucky. smile. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

Hugs, Jeanne

My big celebration will be on June 6th when I see my baby graduate from high school. It's been a journey and a struggle. He's of above average intelligence but has ADHD and difficulties comprehending what he reads. Joey also has hypoglycemia and a form of juvenile arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis. The AS means he needs to stay physically active to keep joints from fusing but the hypoglycemia means he has to refuel frequently. But he does well with following his exercise and food regimens and he works hard to understand the written word so he can succeed in school. He is going to community college next year so he can figure out what he wants to do and to take advantage of the smaller classes. I couldn't be more pleased.

Pat - not sure why my first post didn't come through but I'm typing with one hand (had surgery on my right hand). Pat - This is beautiful! It's incredibly kind of you to give it away - it inspires me to try new things, while reminding me to celebrate!

Art is my daily celebration - honestly. As a single mom (of 3), my art is my lifeline. Without it, I would have lost the remainder of my sanity a looong time ago!

As for actual celebrations, we just celebrated my 2 sons birthdays. They are 11 days apart - and as a mother, I have a question...why do we celebrate the person born on that day, instead of the mother? If I recall correctly - and I'm sure I do! - I did all the work that day. They just showed up and made an appearance - which everyone "ooohed" and "ahhhhed" over. They didn't do 1/10th of the work I did! bahaha

I can't tell you how much I love "Celebrate!" - especially with her crown. You did a phenomenal job - and whomever wins is very, very lucky! xx

A lovely little quilt for sure. I'm still celebrating my retirement this time last year - and more time with grandchildren, textiles, and art!

A fabulous quilt, and a very generous prize for a giveaway! She's so exuberant, and so perfectly fits the word 'celebration'.

Today, I'm celebrating being back online - my computer crashed (now 5 years old) and it's such a relief it's still working and I didn't lose all my artwork!

Wishing you a very belated Happy Pink Saturday - sorry to be this late, due to my computer crashing. I've only just got back online.

Happy Pink Saturday, Pat. We have been pinking together for a while now, and I want to thank you for everything you do to make Pink Saturday special. I am so glad you decided to participate.

Thank you for the birthday wishes, and congratulations on your blogging success.

I am sorry I missed getting here in time for the giveaway. It is awesome!
