On the water front

A couple of weeks ago, I spent the morning at the Dock on Naples Bay taking pictures.  There is a delightful seating area on the dock with these gorgeous Adirondack chairs.  Since I always think of these types of chairs as retro, I edited the photo to achieve a vintage look.

Art in Stitches

I'm excited to exhibit my work in the Florida Museum for Women Artists.  For me, the icing on the cake is meeting the other artists in the show: Katherine Allen, Connie Enzmann-Forneris, Jayne Gaskins, Valerie Goodwin, Eleanor McCain,  Maya Schonenberger, Amy Vigilante and Barbara Watler.

I was surprised and delighted see my work "The Eyes Have It" used in the publicity.

Oceanside

I love taking candid shots of little kids on the beach.  One can only imagine what this little guy had on his mind.

Truly at the Car Wash

It's hot, hot, hot outside.  Truly is cooling off and enjoying a long cold shower before heading across the pond.  Watch for Truly at the Olympics.  It will be the event of the summer!

Texture X 2

Kim challenged us to use two textures on a photo this week.

I was out and about with my camera today experimenting with aperture settings.  I took a number of macro shots.  I was intrigued by the texture of the rope in this photo.  The wooden stump sits outside a restaurant down by the dock on Naples Bay.

Truly at the Drive-In

It's date night and Truly is at the drive-in movies.

For 32 years we had a drive-in movie theater in Naples.  Actually it was a flea market and drive-in theater.  It's been 6 years or more since it was torn down ... sigh.  The Boys and Girls Club of Naples was built on the site.

I can remember as a teenager piling into someone's car and going to a late show.  $5 for a car load of people - what a deal!   It was so much fun - eating popcorn, drinking large Cokes and watching car windows steam up!  (I wonder what they were doing...)

The little roadster is not truly a Truly car, but I saw it in the parking lot at Michael's one day and just knew it would enjoy this movie too.

(I spent way more time than I had planned composing this collage!)

How about you - any drive-in theaters nearby?

Naturally...

The theme for Texture Tuesday is "natural".  Both photos were edited in Photoshop Elements 10.

This photo of natural bristle brushes in my studio has no texture added.  Frame created using layer adjustments; brushes and blending modes.

My husband found this bird's nest in a bush in our yard - can't get more natural than that!  Kim's new texture "Now" added.  I think I should have removed more of the texture from the bird's next - what do you think?

Captain Truly

Harbor Walk marina is located in Destin FL.  Our friends Dick and Lilo took us on a tour one day.  When I noticed this empty spot in the marina, I new Truly was "Destined" to take up a new water sport.

The car is a 1949 Pontiac.

Topaz grunge filter applied to original photo.

I hope Truly is water tight!

Anything Goes

The theme for Texture Tuesday first Tuesday of the month is anything goes.

This photo was taken on the Naples beach a couple of weeks ago.  The photo was first edited in Aperture.  Subsequently edited in Photoshop Elements adding a "frame" vignette effect - soft light 71%- and solid color adjustment.   (No texture was added to the photo.)

The original photo was rather lackluster - editing made all the difference.  I think the final result looks vintage - I like it!
