Every Day in May...

I joined an on-line Flickr group called "Every Day in May." The challenge consists of 31 different drawings - one for each day of the month.  (Once you join, you'll get the list.)  I thought this sounded like fun.  To help me meet the challenge, I made a sketch book.  I love the way it turned out.

Here's what I did:

arranged some watercolors, brushes, pencil, erasure, pencil sharpener and took a picture

scanned an old calendar page (in PSE, I added 31 since the scanned page only had 30 days!)

crumpled up some brown paper and scanned an image

filters, layers, brushes and text added in PSE

The cover image printed on heavy drawing paper.  Front and back covers made using left over drawing tablet board, covered with cover image as well as decorative paper.

The inside pages were also created in PSE and printed on watercolor paper.  Once all of the pages were printed, holes were punched and book bound using the Cinch machine.

The drawing challenge printed for each day of the month - examples below

an envelope on the inside back cover housing the Flickr group info

The method to my madness - after all the effort putting the book together, it would be a shame not to meet the challenge.  I plan to post my drawings during the month of May.  There's still time for you to join in on the fun!

Go to Pink Saturday for more inspiration.

absolutely awesome... very inspiring. Alias, I don't know how to layer all those images...don't think my printer will take watercolor paper (my main medium) and on and on I go! Maybe next time - your book is great!

What fun! I'll enjoy seeing some of your pictures over the month. Me - I do MUCH better with my easy to use digital camera as I can barely draw a crookedy line - and forget the straight ones. :) It's a good thing I'm a grandma - coz all my pix LOOK like a grandkid drew them. :) I'm in awe that you can draw so good. A gift from God!

Happy Pink Saturday!

OMG....I just spent a LONG time on your blog. Can I say I'm crazy about yot? :)

I love the variety of interests and talents you share here..from your creation of journals to your interest in sewing! I LOVE your new sewing machine (my Bernina is ancient, but still a workhorse) and that awesome table you had made for it...and the great drawers from IKEA (wish we had one of those in KCMO!). I, too, have those plastic tubes on the legs of my cutting table..you are right, it's such a backsaver!! I also love that work table top you made!

I liked learning about the CINCH and think I will have to get one of those....and also the PSE 9. I just got a MAC last summer. I had PSE 6(I think) on my old PC...and really miss that (although I was not really putting it to its fullest of uses)...now I am so ready to get the Elements 9 (especially since I have a gift cert. to pay for half of it already!! :).

I know your painting a day will we wonderful and look forward to seeing how you fill that journal.

Happy Pink Saturday! Dana
