Twice as Nice...

This is my favorite photograph of my twin brother, Barney, and me.   When we were kids, money being tight, my mother made coats for each of us by cutting up my dad's old coat.  Don't you just love our hats!

I decided to make a journal page incorporating the image.

assorted ticket stubs, book pages, postage stamps, washi tape; acrylic paint, stenciling

hand carved circle stamp, script using dip pen

twins cut out of photograph; print on paper bag; heart drawn with 9XXB pencil

a final splatter of white paint and journal page now complete

Nice photo of yourself and your brother - it looks so old!!! Your story about the coats makes me think of Dolly Parton and "Coat of many colours".

This photo is just wonderful! Your coats are beautiful and your mother did a fabulous job of re-purposing your father's coat.
P.S. The hats are wonderful too : )

Pat, I love this more than I can say. Every bit is perfect -- the colors, the texture, the words and most of all that incredible photo. Oh, that is such a treasure and you two look simply wonderful together. I'll revisit this post often, partly because of the techniques and partly because it is one of the loveliest pages I've ever seen.

Aww. This is the sweetest little photo. I do love old pictures. They have so many stories longing to be told and such an air of mystery.

Thank you for sharing with Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop.

I must have missed (or forgotten) the first time you mentioned about your twin brother because I didn't know. How cute and challenging is it growing up with someone? I would never know the feeling.

Adorable!
