Beach Hearts...

I walk 7+ miles every Sunday morning on the beach and have been doing so for well over 13 years.  It's dark when I start out (before 6AM).  The beach is my own - rarely do I see another person for at least an hour.  I especially love it when the tide is low - makes walking much easier - and when the moon is full - heavenly!  This morning the moon was just a whisper, but the sky was filled with stars.

I found a couple of "beach hearts."  How appropriate - Valentine's Day is just a couple of days away!

I do not know what this heart is made of.  I found another larger chunk a couple of weeks ago.  If you can identify it, please let me know.  I think its texture is beautiful.

Abalone shell - the colors are luscious!

  3. Love your beach treasures! I would love to be on a warm beach right now. The temps at our beach have been hovering in single digits with a strong wind. Brrr.

  4. I agree with Jenni, it's just beach coral - until you pick it up and put it on on a shelf or in a display case, then it's a treasure.

Up here, it's way too cold to be anywhere near the beach right now. I'm 5 minutes away and during the winter, that's way too close. ;)

  17. The quiet mornings on the beach are one of the best memories from weekends by the sea ... Hearing the waves slowly rolling in, feeling the soft breeze, and smelling the fresh sea water, hearing the sea guls and feeling the soft sand under your feet! The texture of the "heart" is very special, it looks like there's small stars on it? Enjoy the walks!

  18. How fortunate you are to have a beach to yourselves for such a long walk! That "pink" coral(?) is fabulous...and I do love the colors in an abalone shell, even though I'm a definite "in-lander."

  30. I'm in awe that you have walked every Sunday morning for 7+ years!! So good for you. And beach walks are the best although I haven't found my way to the beach in quite a long time. I love your heart finds. I'm thinking the first one might be something like calcified squid or octopus, but that's just me speculating. It's very intriguing, for sure. Thanks for sharing in Walk and Click Wednesdays!!
