Flower Child Van

This fantastic 60's van was parked in the alley next door to our hotel last night and was still there this morning.  I couldn't resist taking a photo.  It even had tattered floral curtains in the windows.  I'm not sure what the smell of smoke emanating from the van was...ha!

Original photo taken on Amelia Island.

  3. Love the color. I've started dreaming about a renovated van like that...and driving cross country! No smoking, though :)

  8. Like you I could not resist taking a photo of an old 1953 red Chevy convertible which is my topic. You do not see much of those old VW vans anymore either.

  9. Interesting how different generations interpret vans.

Our interpretation: Old VW van: hippie, flower-child, recreational pharmaceuticals, free spirit, rebel. Plain van: service van = gonna cost us $$$. Minivan: that thing we subcumbed to in the name of children and said goodbye to the convertible sports car.

Our children's take on vans: plain white = rape.er van. Minivan = mom.mobile. Old VW van: cool!

some things never change - VW vans = cool!

  16. Oh the days of these vans!! They still make me laugh just knowing where they went, and what went on with them, packed full of fun-loving people. I lived in the day, but never was inside one. LOL This is awesome - love the peach color! So 60's!!
